2025 in Review

This time last year, I was excited to note that my flash fiction, "Fire Escape," appeared on Gulf Stream Magazine's website, but, when I went to the AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) conference in Los Angeles in March of this year, I was delighted to see that my story also appeared in old-fashioned print! For issue 35, the good folks at Gulf Stream decided to do a physical issue so my story got two bites at the apple: an appearance online and hardcopy as well.

Speaking of hardcopy appearances, at AWP, I was also thrilled to see my short story, "Judgment," in the 20th anniversary issue of Cutthroat. The theme of the issue is "Taking Liberties." If you'd like to get a physical copy of this excellent issue, follow the link below:

My writing this year also appeared in an overseas journal, Channel, an environmental literary magazine from Ireland. My poem, "Going to Mass in a Blizzard," is in Issue 13 (Autumn 2025). The good folks at Channel were kind enough to invite me to the launch for this issue in a Dublin bookstore. I declined, of course, but was happy to watch the event livestreamed through Instagram. If you'd like to get a hardcopy of the magazine, follow the link below:

Closer to home, my poem in the form of a golden shovel, "To the Director of Family Engagement," appeared in the Fall 2025 issue of VIA: Voices in Italian Americana, a journal published by Bordighera Press, which is in New York City. To get a print copy of this issue, clink the link below:

This coming year, 2026, is off to a strong start. I recently learned that a poem of mine will appear in a forthcoming anthology, and my first piece of creative nonfiction, a 100-word micromemoir, is set to appear in the online lit mag Five Minutes. When I have a firm date for both these publications, I will post that information. Another fun event I'm looking forward to in 2026 is the AWP conference, which will be in Baltimore in early March.
